Strong Under Pressure and Over Time

Flooring can take a lot of abuse over its lifetime, and it starts during the installation process. Resilient flooring needs to be pulled tight across the platform of a manufactured home, which can lead to tearing — and there’s always the possibility of damage from tool or equipment drops. But in a series of independent tests, Beauflor® has been proven to resist scratches and puncturing, and can take tension without tearing. With Beauflor®, installers can put the product into place with complete confidence, and customers can be assured their flooring will last.

Weathers Stains and the Elements

Along with withstanding impacts and abrasions, Beauflor® resists staining from spills—a benefit that’s particularly important to families with children and pets. Rain and snow are often tracked indoors as well, penetrating flooring and creating odor-causing mold and mildew underneath, which can pose a serious health hazard. But Beauflor® is water resistant, keeping flooring dry beneath the surface. That’s not all; Beauflor® is resistant to cold cracking, so it stays strong when conditions are frigid outside the home.

Putting Beauflor® EliteBac to the Test

An independent lab confirmed Beauflor® EliteBac’s superiority after a series of rigorous tests pitted Beauflor® EliteBac products against the competition. Not surprisingly, Beauflor® EliteBac outperformed its competitors in every category, from scratch and liquid resistance to wearability and overall strength. And it looked good while doing it too. Beauflor® EliteBac perfectly mimics the organic look and texture of natural woods, stone and tile, creating a beautiful finished look that is pleasing to the eye and the touch.

Flooring is often rolled back throughout installation, so each sample was wrapped around a dowel to determine strength. Paper-backed competitors cracked or split, while EliteBac’s fiber backing was damage-free.

When water penetrates flooring, it can cause mold and mildew beneath the surface. To gauge absorption, a pipe was attached to each sample and filled with water. After 24 hours, water had seeped through to the backings of all but one competitor sample, along with EliteBac, which kept water contained.

During installation, tools and debris can scratch surfaces, so pressure was applied to each sample to gauge scratch resistance. Competitors scratched at 1.6 to 2.2 lbs. of pressure, but EliteBac withstood 2.4 lbs.
Though EliteBac makes installation easy, accidents happen. A metal spike was placed against the surface of each sample, and force was applied. Competitors punctured at 9.9 to 13.8 lbs. while EliteBac required a hefty 28.2 lbs. of pressure.
Following installation, wrinkles need to be flattened by applying tension. To mimic this, force was exerted to one side of a sample, pulling in opposite directions. Competitors tore at 3.9 to 6.2 lbs., EliteBac at 10.3 lbs.
Flooring needs to withstand tension to avoid distortion. To test this, each sample was clamped between vices and slowly stretched. Competitors lost shape at 88.1 to 126 lbs., while EliteBac stayed firm until 186.1 lbs. of force was applied.
Heavy foot traffic wears flooring over time, so an abrasive wheel spinning at 2,000 cycles per minute was placed against each sample to mirror this. The backing on competing products was quickly diminished, but EliteBac showed little sign of wear.
In one final test, each sample was submerged in water and then put back under the abrasive wheel. Competing products crumbled and tore, while EliteBac remained firm.
